Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 20, 2026

This policy explains what Dark Alarm — the Android app developed by Imal Imran ("we," "us," "the app") — does and does not do with your information. It applies to the Dark Alarm app and to this website.

1. Information we collect

Dark Alarm does not require an account, sign-in, name, email address, or phone number to work. The app is built to function entirely on your device.

The following information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us:

  • Alarm data — the times, labels, repeat schedules, sound choices, and challenge settings you configure for each alarm.
  • Challenge settings — your chosen difficulty, challenge type (Math, Scan Object, or Extreme), and auto-stop duration.
  • Custom sounds — any ringtone files you select or import for use as alarm sounds.

We do not collect your contacts, location, browsing history, or any personal identifiers through the app.

2. Permissions we request

Android requires apps to ask for permission before using certain device features. Here is what Dark Alarm asks for and why:

PermissionWhy it's needed
Alarms & remindersTo schedule and trigger your alarms at the exact time you set, even when the app is closed.
CameraOnly used when an alarm's challenge type is set to Scan Object or Extreme, to detect the real-world object you chose to dismiss that alarm.
VibrationTo play the vibration pattern you selected for a given alarm.
Storage / mediaTo let you choose a custom audio file from your device as an alarm sound.
NotificationsTo display the alarm and wake-up challenge on your screen and lock screen.

Dark Alarm only requests the permissions above. It does not request access to contacts, SMS, call logs, or your precise location.

3. How information is used

Anything Dark Alarm stores is used solely to provide the app's own features — scheduling your alarms, running the wake-up challenge you configured, and playing the sound and vibration you chose. We do not use your alarm data for advertising, profiling, or analytics.

4. The camera & Scan Object feature

When an alarm uses Scan Object or Extreme mode, Dark Alarm briefly accesses your camera to check whether it can see the object you selected. This check is performed on your device. Camera images are not uploaded, stored permanently, or shared with any third party.

You can decline or later revoke the Camera permission in Android's Settings at any time. If you do, alarms using Scan Object or Extreme mode will not be able to complete that part of the challenge, so we recommend switching those alarms to Math Challenge instead.

5. Data storage & security

All alarm and settings data is stored locally in the app's private storage on your device. It is not backed up to any server we control. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android Settings, permanently deletes this data.

We take reasonable measures to keep the app secure, but no method of storage is 100% guaranteed against every possible risk, including risks arising from your device's own security.

6. Third-party services

As of the date above, Dark Alarm does not integrate any third-party advertising network or analytics SDK. If that changes in a future update, this policy will be updated first to name the service and the data it processes.

7. Children's privacy

Dark Alarm is a general-audience utility app and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect personal information from any user in the first place, this applies equally to users of any age.

8. Your choices & controls

  • Manage or revoke any permission at any time from Android Settings → Apps → Dark Alarm → Permissions.
  • Delete individual alarms directly within the app at any time.
  • Clear all app data from Android Settings → Apps → Dark Alarm → Storage, or uninstall the app to remove everything Dark Alarm has stored.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, note the change here. Continuing to use Dark Alarm after an update means you accept the revised policy.
